This presentation will provide an overview of legal updates, including new and revised statutes recently adopted or enacted. This will include any new laws for 2020.
CIBRS and Hate Crime [1230-1600]
Presented by: Terry Elm, Department of Justice
This presentation will serve as a project update and Technical Specifications for the CIBRS Transition Project.
Topics will include Strategic Planning Phase, Ideal Project Timeline, DOJ’s Nest Steps, New Repository, and Agency’s Transitions, an introduction to the collection of CIBRS data and the importance of Uniform Crime Reporting. This training will review hate crimes reporting standards and address common issues in reporting. This hate crimes training will comprise of the following topics: DOJ hate crime data collection authority and responsibility; LEA reporting responsibilities; UCR hate crimes reporting standards and definitions; as well as hate crimes scenarios.
**LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED BETWEEN THE MORNING AND AFTERNOON TRAINING SESSIONS**
