2024-2025 Central Chapter Director

Tamia is the Communications Manager and ACC for the Bakersfield Police Department where she has worked since 1996, beginning her career as a Records Clerk. Five years later she promoted to Police Dispatcher, and eventually to Police Dispatch Trainer.

Tamia has been involved with training for over 15 years. She has obtained a POST Supervisory Certificate, is a POST certified instructor, CLETS certified instructor and has completed the POST IDI Advanced Level (Level III). Currently, she facilitates multiple domains for her Department’s Dispatch Academy, is the CLETS instructor for their Police Academy and teaches several in-house procedure based courses.

Tamia writes extensively for her Department, updating their Communications Center Training Manual, created a Standard of Operations Manual for her dispatch center and recently co-authored a proposal to implement a tactical dispatch team. 

 In her free time, Tamia loves to read, travel and learn new things.

Tamia attended her first CCUG Seminar in 2014 and was amazed by the quality of training and networking opportunities it offered.  She was happy to be elected Central Chapter Treasurer in 2017, and has since continued to serve on the board as Secretary in 2018 and 2019. In 2020 she was appointed to serve as Assistant Director when the position was vacated. Tamia was elected to serve as Assistant Director for the 2021-2022 term. In 2022 Executive Board voted to appoint Tamia to Central Chapter Director to finish the 2022-2023 term when the position became vacant. Tamia was elected to serve as the Central Chapter Director for the 2024-2025 term.
